'60 Minute Garden Makeover'

On 16 May 2013 over forty pupils from Great Harwood Primary School and Norden High School transformed a neglected garden at the primary school. Pupils, staff and volunteers overhauled two flowerbeds and three raised vegetable beds, in a frantic ’60 minute garden makeover’; with ten flowering plant varieties and 14 edibles, including fruit, vegetables and herbs.

Year 8 Rugby League Team

On Thursday 16 May 2013 our Year 8 Boys Rugby League team took part in the East Lancashire Schools' Rugby League Tournament.

They played some excellent Rugby with fantastic skills and commitment on display. They beat Ribblesdale and had narrow losses against Hollins, Accrington Academy and Clitheroe Grammar. The team is now looking forward to more fixtures in the coming weeks.

It's All About The Law

Norden High School was proud to welcome Nazir Afzal OBE as a guest speaker in the GCSE Law class on Monday 22 April 2013. Nazir is the Chief Crown Prosecutor for the North West Area and very kindly gave up his time to speak about his role with the Crown Prosecution Service.

The GCSE Law students heard stories about the role of the Crown Prosecution Service in administering justice and the burden of proof that is required so as to reinforce their knowledge of the law.

The students found Mr Afzal’s speech really intriguing and learnt a great deal.
 

Year 7 Rugby League Team

Our Year 7 Boys Rugby League team have recently played in the East Lancashire Schools’ Rugby League Tournament. They beat Westholme and were narrowly defeated by Darwen Academy and Accrington Academy. They played a very good but tough game against Clitheroe Grammar but unfortunately lost it despite their very best efforts.

The boys were fantastic, to say it was their first ever time as a team, and their effort and commitment were brilliant!
