Project Safehouse Competition
Over the last month year 7 pupils have been working on a Lancashire Constabulary competition, presented by PCSO Ian McCaroll, in PSHE where they were required to produce a report looking at home security. The focus of the report was to look at how home security can be improved to make it safe from criminals.
We had a large number of entries from year 7 pupils. To make the tough decision of choosing a winner we asked esteemed judges Mrs Caunce (Norden Governor) and Mr Harrison (Rotary Group of Great Harwood) to select the top five winners from which there would be one overall winner.
The top five winners were:
Karli Slater 7T
Komal Shah 7R
Macy Hutcheon 7R
Chloe Curtis 7T
Megan Watson 7S

Karli Slater was selected as the overall winner of the competition and represented Norden at the Project Safehouse Awards Evening at Oswaldtwistle Mills on Thursday 10th May. Karli did a fantastic job of representing the school and received the runner up prize. Well Done Karli!
Diversity Day
September 2011
At Norden High School through participation in various activities we aim to equip students with the skills to become responsible citizens who make a positive contribution in society.
Over 180 year 5 students from 5 different primary schools attended Norden on Wednesday 21 September for Diversity Day. Diversity Day is all about celebrating different cultures and communities and promoting community cohesion in a positive manner.
50 Norden High School students worked continuously for two months preparing workshops to be delivered to the primary school students. On the day, primary school pupils experienced a variety of workshops from face painting, African masks, world festivals, world culture, world fashion to name a few. Following the workshops, students were treated to a multicultural fashion show where students ‘strutted their stuff’ in various outfits from across the globe followed by various dance (ranging from Bollywood to Rhythm and Blues) and musical performances.

It was a fantastic day and it clearly reflected the large level of work and commitment put in by Norden students to ensure it was a success – well done!
